Torus Law is a relationship-focused, team-based law firm combining decades of industry experience. While we have a breadth of history behind us, our firm's story is rooted in David Stoyanoff's childhood.

When David was in grade school, his father became a business owner and opened a family-run restaurant. Spending most of his formative years working in the family business, David learned, early in his life, the importance of supporting small businesses and encouraging their success. He saw first-hand the joys that came as his father fulfilled his entrepreneurial dreams, as well as the pitfalls that arose when he made decisions without having the necessary insight to help him soundly achieve his goals.

A business-centered perspective has stayed with David throughout his career.

After many years spent practicing law in the corporate world, David gained vast experience servicing businesses with acquisitions and dispositions, tax planning and establishing new companies and business partnerships. David found that applying the framework for a strong corporate structure to small businesses fulfills the company's needs and can enhance its growth, liability protection and tax benefits. When David decided to pursue his own entrepreneurial dreams, he found his calling in Richmond, Virginia. Upon opening his law practice, David reflected back to his father's business and knew his mission was to help local business owners thrive with thorough, attentive legal guidance.

2004 — David opened his business as a solo practitioner to help small and emerging businesses grow and protect their companies.

2006 — Wilson Stoyanoff, PLC was officially formed with the continued focus of helping small and emerging Virginia-based businesses.

2010 — Torus Law emerged to provide an additional level of in-depth, relationship-based services solely focused on our clients' entrepreneurial success.
